Developing
the skills of an international workforce
by Professor Richard Conder,
Chief Executive of the GTA University Centre
At a time of uncertainty in the
geo/political world it is reassuring to see Guernsey based companies continuing to invest in the knowledge and skills which
will help the island to compete at the highest levels.
At the GTA University Centre,
we are seeing record levels of students enrol on our programmes and by popular demand we have expanded the range of courses
available for people to study on island.
Last year we celebrated the achievements
of 82 of our students who had gained either postgraduate or professional qualifications in Guernsey in subjects as diverse
as Corporate Governance, e - Commerce, Strategic Human Resources and Intellectual Property. Those graduates and the many thousands
of other students who have attended courses at the GTA University Centre come from all sectors of the island’s economy
and are now using their new skills and knowledge to improve the way their organisations work.
Organisations increasingly realise
that to produce consistently excellent results their businesses need highly trained managers and our range of management programmes
is now one of the most popular in our schedule. As well as seminars and one day courses in specialist subjects such as performance
appraisals and presentation skills, managers can now progressively study for a Certificate, Diploma, and an MBA without leaving
the island.
We are proud
to be playing a part in helping to develop the skills of a dynamic international workforce and we look forward to providing
further opportunities for organisations and their employees to develop and reach their potential.
