Property and Planning in Guernsey

How simple is it to buy in Guernsey? Very!

Guernsey welcomes all British Passport Holders or EEC Nationals - it couldn’t be easier. With new residents having to occupy a special category of property known as “Open Market”, and with approx 1600 properties available, making up 10% of the island’s dwellings, the choice is varied.

The Island is blessed with a wide range of excellent Estate Agents who can advise on the property hot spots. You can find a full list as shown on the Guernsey Yellow Pages by clicking this link.

While you’re busy looking for your dream move, why not stop off at one of the island’s many fine restaurants. The Capital of St. Peter Port, is just a short drive from the Airport and there you can enjoy a delightful shopping experience benefiting from Guernsey’s Low Tax Regime. Small boutiques offer exclusive clothes, shoes and leather goods, whilst the Old Quarter is the place to find antiques.

Also boasting the Channel Island’s premier marina St Peter Port has been operating since Roman times and is packed with every type of vessel from fishing trawlers to luxury motor boats. If you arrive by boat and cruise into one of our Marinas, you can dwell on the captivating views of the capital with Church Steeples, Castles and the exclusive Fort George Open Market, front row properties perched on the cliff top.

Apart from the stunning backdrop of the capital the whole island enjoys a spectacular mix of cliff paths, on which to stroll and jog, along with beaches on which to laze during long, hot summers. If you are a sporting type the island is thriving with yacht & rowing clubs and certain stretches of the coast are alive with surfers and windsurfers. There are keenly-contested leagues in everything from football and cricket to squash, tennis and volleyball as well as several Golf Courses.

Nature lovers are in for a treat with plenty of bird watching opportunities on all of the enchanting islands making up the Bailiwick of Guernsey. So whatever you choose to do, Guernsey offers an excellent lifestyle and is just waiting for you to discover it.
