Guernsey States approve 2010 Budget today (posted
9th December 2009)
The States of Guernsey debated the 2010 budget today. With over £350
million pounds worth of spending in the Billet and concerns over the future system for collecting tax in the light of the
Zero - 10 confusion members discussed how they can meet the shortfall of revenue against the proposed spending.
The
States confirmed increases in tax on fuel, alcohol, tobacco and property. It will be interesting to see what decisions
are made as regards future tax systems next year.
